Week Activities

It's been a crazy week full of activities with the kids.  Monday was dance day:

She loved standing on top of the register with her leotard skirt

She really loves dance class!

Tuesday was gymnastics class for Leslie.  The Lee's Summit Parks department built a new splash pad basically across the street from her gym.  So after gymnastics class, we had a picnic lunch and explored the new splash pad and play equipment:

Storms started rolling in, so we headed home shortly after this

Wednesday Leslie had school, so I spent the day mostly with Daniel.  He helped me grocery shop and run errands.  For a special treat, we stopped and had a donut:
M&M donut for Daniel, and I'll stick with my coconut donut
And if donuts weren't enough sugar for the day, I promised Daniel we'd bake something for Daddy.  So we made cookies together:

Thursday was a trip to the dentist.  Thankfully neither kid has any cavities!  After the dentist, we spent some time at a local park, celebrating the first official day of Summer:

Friday we attended a program about guide dogs at the library.  I didn't snap any pictures there.  The kids also got to pick out a free book (their third book) since they completed the Summer Reading Program at the library.  I love this program... encourages them to read during the Summer and earns them each three free books.

Friday afternoon, Daniel had his friend, Shafer over to play at our house.  They had a lot of fun and did a great job including Leslie.

Saturday was AWESOME.  A coworker of Bobby's, Jeff (he's the Gamma Knife nurse), and his family invited us to join them on Longview Lake to rent a pontoon boat and feed the fish.  It was so much fun!  We were out on the lake for about an hour, and I know Daniel wasn't ready to be done.  He keeps asking when we will do it again.  Here are a few pictures and videos:

Such a beautiful day

Round 3 of feeding the fish

A last minute invitation landed Daniel with his friend, Phoenix, at the Lee's Summit Airport Open House.  We saw this and thought about going as a family, but after our morning at the lake, Bobby and I were ready to relax at home instead.  Thankfully, Jaime, Phoenix's mom, wanted to take Daniel.  Jaime has a Jeep, and I'm not sure if Daniel liked riding in the Jeep or seeing all the airplanes more!

She sent me these pictures from the airport:

From the looks of it, I'd say they had a great time!

Today was a chore day - mowing, haircuts, laundry, etc.  We tried swimming, but it was cloudy and just a bit too cold, so we only stayed about 45 minutes.  But in those 45 minutes, something huge happened... Daniel went down the swimming pool slide!  He's been so nervous about it.  I'm not sure exactly what persuaded him to do it, but when he did, he wanted to do it again and again!  We are so proud of him for pushing past his fear and allowing himself to enjoy the ride!
