I was impressed with the studio instructor's (Meghan's) credentials (Master's in elementary education, former Chiefs cheerleader, and an extensive dance background). She's also about my age, is a mom, and feels the kids should have age appropriate dance movement and costuming. Most of all though, I liked how she interacted with Leslie. I could see a genuine love of dance while striking the right balance of discipline.
Leslie loved it. She was super excited to wear her new tap and ballet shoes, along with her new dance leotard. (She loves dressing up, in case you missed that... HA!)
There are two other little girls in her class. I don't know if her class size will get much bigger since this is the first year, but honestly I like that the class is so small.
They started out with tap:
Then moved on to ballet:
And finished off with some silly movement time:
After class, I asked her what her favorite part was, she said, "All of it!" I love her enthusiasm for dance!
