Daniel's gathering started early before school with cinnamon rolls. Afterwards, he took them around to see his classroom, meet his teacher, and see some of other areas in the school.
Leslie's gathering was shortly after at Traditions Preschool. They held a program with songs outside. It was a bit cold that day, and it sounds like Leslie was more interested in staying warm with her hands inside her coat than singing. She must have warmed up a little toward the end because my mom said she did end up doing some motions and singing a bit. Hard to imagine her as shy! The grandparents also got to see the school (which they're familiar with since Daniel went there) and meet Leslie's wonderful teachers, Ms. Katie and Ms. Laura.
We had a great few days with my parents, and are thankful they were able to come to the celebrations!
Thursday was Thanksgiving, and we spent it with our friends, Nick and Kate at their house in Leavenworth, Kansas (about an hour from our house). It was great! Kate made most of the side dishes, and the men fried a delicious turkey. The kids ran around and played. They also enjoyed playing on their tablets together for a short time. Afterwards we were all stuffed and happy!

Friday morning we went to the Zoo with our friends, Ryan, Wendy, and their three boys. The weather was nearly perfect - 73 degrees, sunny, and a bit windy. We saw lots of animals, rode several rides, played on the outdoor equipment, and had lunch outside. It was great!
Saturday we ran a few errands, went to lunch, and put up the Christmas decorations. My two little Christmas helpers were awesome. Leslie only broke one ornament (and trust me, it could have easily been more...). HA! They were so excited to decorate. Daniel bowed out after about 45 minutes saying he was tired, but we were nearly done, and he truly was super helpful.
Sunday (today) was a chore day. We've procrastinated for quite some time on painting the bathroom the kids share, but finally got it done today. Bobby painted it a yellow, so it took several (three?) coats to cover up the existing tan color, but it's so bright and cheerful now. The kids seem to enjoy the change. Other than that it was cleaning and laundry in preparation for our big week. Bobby and I are going to Cancun on Tuesday sans kids! My amazing mom and dad will join us tomorrow (Monday) to take over while we're relaxing at our all-inclusive hotel. (Did I mention I'm excited?! Because I am! Someone to take care of me for four days?! I almost don't know how I'll handle myself, but I look forward to figuring it out!) And I think the kids are excited about having the grandparents all to themselves without us getting in the way. Love you, Mom and Dad! MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR!
