Last Days Before School

We continued the fun last week in our quest to finish the Summer off with a bang.  On Wednesday we to the Lee's Summit Farmer's Market.  We bought lots of delicious Summer treats, and were also treated to seeing some of Lee's Summit's finest at one of the stands.  The kids were thrilled!

Quick story - When Bobby got home from work, Leslie told him, "Daddy!  Daddy!  Daddy!  Guess what?!  A police officer held my hand, and it was fantastic!"

They gave the kids free ice pops, and check out that amazing balloon art behind the kids!

After the Farmer's Market, we went to a park

Thursday was a trip to Paradise Park, always a favorite with both Daniel and Leslie:

Friday we stayed home in the morning, because Mama was T-I-R-E-D.  We needed a bit of a recovery day.  We played a bit outside though.

However, when Daddy got home, we all went to the neighborhood pool.  We didn't get any pictures, but we went to a different neighborhood pool (we have three pools, and have now successfully visited two.).  The water was really cold!  The high that day wasn't over 80 degrees and the pool is not heated.  Despite that, we had a great time and the pool all to ourselves!

Saturday was an errand and cleaning day to pave the way for a fun Sunday.  And that it was!  We started out by riding the Streetcar and going to City Market (downtown Farmer's Market).

We were so close to Legoland that we decided to stop there too.  Leslie is finally tall enough to ride one of the rides there, and she LOVED it!

Sunday evening we went to a Kindergarten PTA Playdate at the school's playground.  Daniel saw a few friends he knew, but he doesn't know anyone in his Kindergarten class.  I don't think this will be too hard for him.  He's very social and plays well with others, so I'm sure he'll make friends fast just like he did in preschool.

And for the grand finale... today he got to meet his new Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kralicek!  She is very nice and remembered Daniel from his Kindergarten screening back in May.  She mentioned she thought of him with the upcoming solar eclipse Monday.  I was impressed she remembered his love for astronomy.  We think it's going to be a great year!
