Weekend Adventures!

We had the opportunity to get out of the house this weekend and were able to take advantage of some great weather.  Yesterday, we went to a party with some of Amy's mom-friends.  There was a big inflatable water slide that Daniel really enjoyed playing in, and even Leslie made some friends:

Today, we went for an extra long walk around the neighborhood.  We also stopped to play at the neighborhood playground.  We took a few pictures while we were there:

So, as expected, our two children are very different.  One of the biggest areas that we constantly notice differences is when it comes to food and eating.  Daniel has always been a picky eater, and while he now eats a wonderful variety of healthy foods, it's been a long struggle for us to get him to this point.  We've fought for every bite of 'challenge food' and still have problems getting him to try new foods.

Leslie, on the other hand, pretty much eats anything we put anywhere near her.  We're basically done with pureed food now (super huge credit to Amy for making pretty much all of Leslie's pureed baby food).  She's moved on to eating regular food, and we're having her eat mostly whatever we are eating for dinner.  The other night she happily stuffed as much chicken enchiladas as she could into her mouth, for example.  Tonight, Amy made chicken and noodles.  Based on Leslie's eagerness (and the mess she made), you would have thought she was eating a piece of cake:

Her willingness to eat anything, combined with her new-found ability to crawl really fast, can sometimes get her into trouble.  I turned my back for a few minutes tonight only to turn back around and find Leslie happily sitting by the dog food bowl shoving pieces of dog food into her mouth as quickly as she could.  She was not a happy girl when I finally fished the sixth piece of dog food from her mouth. Poor child, not allowed to eat the dog food.

Also, tonight was bath night for Leslie.  When she is bathing, Daniel likes to splash around from outside the tub and try to make her laugh.  I took a short video showing them both being pretty silly in and out of the tub:
