We stayed home for Christmas this year. We hoped that by quarantining at home longer, we would lessen the potential for Covid spread. It was fun to have our little family of four at home, but we sure did miss spending it with family.
On Christmas Eve, Leslie and I made a charcuter-tree! These seem to be all the rage now in the food-loving community, so I thought it would be fun to turn one into a tree shape for Christmas. Leslie loved helping, and it was a fun, easy way to enjoy dinner on Christmas Eve. Before bed, we set out cookies and milk for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer. Leslie made some special drawings for Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The kids were up bright and early on Christmas morning! Santa came! They spent the morning playing with their new toys (or deciding how to spend their Christmas $). We had a relaxing day at home, and for dinner, enjoyed filets and roasted potatoes.
The week in between Christmas and New Years was a blur. What day is it?! What time is it?! There was a dentist appointment in there somewhere (no cavities for anyone!), but the rest of the days were spent hanging around the house playing with the new toys, already discussing how bored they were, and overindulging on sweets and screen time.

For the new year, we decided to go to Iowa to see family to finally celebrate Christmas. We LOVED seeing everyone. It's been hard since we've all tried to isolate as best as possible. There was lots of crafting time with Grandma for Leslie, lots of showing off video games for Daniel, present opening, playing with new toys, cookie decorating, and playing in the snow.

Daniel started out the new year by making Daddy very happy. He's currently reading (and loving) Ender's Game, Daddy's favorite book of all time.

We loved having you home for a Christmas/New Years celebration. The kids are so creative and kind. Loved our time with both of them. Pretty nice seeing you guys too :) 2020 has been a tough year....here's to a better 2021!!!
