She and I have been trying to go on walks during the day when I know we won't walk as a family in the evenings. I took the opportunity to take some pictures of her with the beautiful Spring blooms around our neighborhood.
Daniel had a Field Day on Friday at school. He came home in another outfit after getting all wet, so we know he loved it! This is one of the pictures from the school:
Speaking of being all wet, we played outside the other evening with a water blaster and garden hose. The kids LOVED it:
This weekend was busy one for us. Daniel finished up his last swim lesson. Since we're heading to Florida next week, we plan on holding off on doing more lessons for now. We're hoping between the trip and swimming at the neighborhood pool during the Summer, that he'll continue to work on his swimming skills.
We went to our neighbor's (Amanda) graduation party. We didn't get a picture with the graduate, but the kids had a blast dipping their toes in the swimming pool and playing around with Amanda's sister, Kennedy (our occasional babysitter).
Today we met up with our friends, Nick and Kate, and their kids at the Overland Park Convention Center for the Tasty Expo - "Kansas City's premier food and beverage event." Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. This was kinda Kate's thing, but I love food and drinks, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. It was fun! There were a lot of vendors there - vodka, gin, beer, wine, juice, tea, cheese, beef jerky, popcorn, fudge, cupcakes, seasonings, BBQ sauce, chips, salsa... you name it, they probably had a sample of it. Daniel loved samples of loose tea, which surprised me, but also made me happy. I'm a fan of tea too, so maybe we'll have a little tea time. :) Leslie was mainly a fan of the fudge and cupcakes. Who could blame her? Those were delicious! The kids tried a lot of new foods and drinks, which was one of my goals with going to this event. I tried a few new things too. Turns out I'd never make it as a vegan, and I'm super glad I'm not lactose intolerant. I tried some dairy-free cheese. No thanks. Blech.
We're sad this was our last outing with them as families. Nick and Kate head to Texas in a few weeks for Nick's next Air Force assignment, but their kids, Kaiden and Izzy head to spend time with their Dad in Virginia next week. Daniel had a tough time saying goodbye to Kaiden. This is the first time he's had a good friend move away. Poor guy. We'll sure miss them, but we're so happy we got to see them so much in the year they lived in Kansas.
