This week we were lucky enough to have two somewhat last-minute visitors. The first was my second-cousin, Sandi, who lives on beautiful Orcas Island in Washington. She stopped by earlier in the week for a couple of hours while on her way to visit a friend in Topeka, KS. It was great to see her! The kids especially loved all the attention and showing off their rooms. We hope Sandi can come back for a longer visit soon!
Cousin Sandi made this awesome book for the kids. It has lots of little projects in it. We may just have to save it for the Summer for when I hear, "I'm bored..."
On Saturday, Bobby's sister, Amanda, came for a visit to KC with her boyfriend, Monte. They too, were on their way to visit family in Lawrence, KS. The kids, once again, loved giving them the grand tour, and playing a few rounds of video games together. We loved getting the chance to see Aunt Amanda and meet her boyfriend, Monte! We hope they can come for a longer visit sometime soon too.
In other random Daniel news, he's been saving his money for several months now. He gets $1/week from us. We're impressed he's mostly saved his money from holidays and his birthday, and also with his ability to decide if buying something is really "worth it" or not.
For a few months now, he's known that Nintendo will release a cardboard accessory package (Labo) for the Switch gaming system. He saved up $60 and went to Best Buy to get it Friday night. (We're lucky they went Friday night because they got the last one in stock!) When he got home, he was excited to put it all together. There are several pieces, and each piece takes anywhere from 1-3 hours to assemble. While Bobby is doing most of it, Daniel is intently helping where he can. Here are a few pictures of the assembled parts (there's still a piano and a house to assemble):
Motorcycle Racing Game
Fishing Game
And here's a video of the fishing game in action. Pretty neat that it accomplishes all of this with just cardboard, motion sensors, etc. Also, with us as his parents, this may be as close as he ever gets to actual fishing.
Also, some other random pictures:
He made this in Art class at school
They both love to build and play with blocks. They really play well together... most of the time. :)
In other Leslie news, we went over to a friend's house (Palmer) this week. These two are becoming fast friends:
We went to Costco after visiting friends, and she was wiped out on the way home!
Still loves gymnastics!
