Halloween

Yesterday was Halloween, and it did not disappoint!  Daniel was excited months ago for Halloween, so when the night came, he was ready!  Leslie wasn't quite sure what was happening.  At first, she had no interest in putting on her costume, but once she figured out that she actually got to WEAR a HOT DOG, she started to warm up to the idea.  (As a side note, Leslie loves hot dogs.  We're currently reading the Pigeon Series by Mo Willems - very cute children's books.  In these books, the pigeon LOVES hot dogs and hot dog parties.  Leslie finds this hilarious, so we felt it was very fitting for her to be a hot dog this year.)

We went all around our neighborhood.  It took a while because Leslie wasn't interested in hopping in the stroller between houses.  No, no... Miss Independent wanted to walk.  Daniel was Mr. Social, talking, and talking, and talking to all the neighbors - HA (quite a change from Halloweens past)!  Even with all the chatting and a slow pace, the kids still made out with a ton of candy.  Our neighbors are all so kind.  We really love our neighborhood.

Here are a few pictures of our 2016 trick-or-treaters!  (You'll notice the kids in shorts/short sleeves... the weather has been unseasonably warm, and it was welcome yesterday for trick-or-treating.)

The night before Halloween, our awesome neighbors brought over some decorated pumpkins and goodies for the kids

"Quick - it's the night before Halloween... go out, get a pumpkin, and carve it as fast as you can!"  (You'll notice we scaled back this year doing a smiley face instead of a Lego guy and butterfly which required a drill, lots more time, and patience.)

"Here, that's a full size candy bar... Mommy should probably have that one."  ;) (Also, by the end of the night, she didn't want to take her hot dog costume off!)
