Fun Happenings

On Friday, I took the kids to open gym (where Daniel takes gymnastics).  There's a large inflatable slide which you have to essentially "rock climb" to get up to the top.  Daniel has always been too nervous to try it.  On Friday, I simply said, "Hey bud, do you want to try the big slide?"  To which he replied, "Ok!" and ran off to climb up.  I was shocked.  I fully expected him to get in and then turn right back around once he realized he had to use grips to get to the top.  But he didn't.  He went straight up, and then down that slide with a big smile on his face.  After he told me about being "slide sick" (I think his stomach dropped a bit on the descent), he went right back to it again, and again, and again!  I was super proud!  I actually managed to get his first big slide on video:

Daniel will also run straight in to the foam pit without stopping now (another big improvement):

Leslie enjoyed her time there too, but I think she's still trying to figure out what everything is and does.  She liked stacking the foam pit blocks, and she really giggled on the trampolines.

Monday, Bobby took the day off for a dermatologist appointment (we LOVE that his vacation increased this year and he has more flexibility to take days off during the week!).  After lunch we headed to Legoland.  We like going there during the week when it's much more quiet.  Both kids had a great time!  We wanted to continue to push Daniel just a bit out of his comfort zone again, so we planned to take him on one of the rides there that goes up and down when you pedal.  You may remember this video from October 2015:

You'll notice Daniel won't let Bobby pedal to make it go up.  I didn't get a new video, but Bobby pedaled this time (Daniel couldn't quite reach the pedals) and they went up and down.  Daniel really enjoyed it!

Leslie's favorite thing was running in and through the Ninjago Laser Maze.  You could turn on the lasers if you wanted to, or just run through it like she did.  ;)  I swear we probably went through that maze together 15 times, and then finally Bobby and Daniel joined us.  Here's a cute video of Daniel and Leslie giggling and running through it:

Of course, Daniel also wanted to visit the Lego Master Builder Academy:

Leslie enjoyed this Lego Dog (" 'go woof!"):

Daniel and Bobby went to see a short Lego movie, in 3D!:

Daniel was very proud of his "different color pattern" Lego design he made.

Even Bobby and I had a great time at Legoland!
We love KC!

Recycling truck!
And one last thing... I enjoy the Iowa Hawkeyes (even though I hardly ever manage to watch a game), but I especially enjoy dressing my kids in cute Hawkeye attire!
