He loves to use tools and imaginary play. When you hand him a brush, he knows to brush his hair (or a toy/stuffed animal's hair). He also knows lots of words and several commands. He is "talking" a lot, but has yet to really have a vocabulary. The other day Bobby said, "Can you say dog?" Sure enough, clear as day, he said dog. We've asked him several times since then and haven't heard anything repeated.
He recently learned to nod his head to indicate yes. One time when we asked him if he could say dog, he nodded his head to say yes! It was very cute. He likes to answer yes to a lot of things like "Do you want more blueberries?" It's fun to be able to communicate with him. He also pats his leg or chest when he wants you to follow him indicating "come with me"... usually straight to the laundry room to push the buttons on the washer or dryer! (I really hope he like doing the laundry as he gets older - ha!)
Daniel loves to read books. He likes to give animals in the books "kisses." It's very cute! Oddly enough he only likes for me to read books with him. He did, however, enjoy having Grandpa and Aunt Denise read to him which was great! He also likes to "read" books on his own. He is especially fond of The Very Hungry Caterpillar book which came from Great-Granddaddy and Great-Grandmommy. He likes to poke his fingers through the holes where the caterpillar ate.
One of our new favorite traits he developed is initiating displays of affection with hugs and kisses. He started hugging a while ago, but we love kisses, and he typically is eager to oblige.
He has settled in well at our new home. FINALLY - we made it to a house! He likes to run from room to room and enjoys being in the stroller as we go for daily walks with the dogs in the new neighborhood.
It really is a joy to see him grow. He becomes more and more independent and knows what he wants with each day. He's not afraid to let you know if he doesn't want something. ;)
