13-Month Update

Daniel turned 13-months-old today!  A few new updates:

Sleeping - Over the past week or so, Daniel has learned to sleep in.  While he used to wake at 6:30, he is now sleeping until 7:30.  We also changed his bedtime a bit, and generally put him to bed around 7:45 p.m. instead of 8:00, so he is now sleeping nearly 12 hours a night!  His naps are more sporadic.  He still generally takes two naps a day, but since he sleeps in later, he's napping later too.  Sometimes that really messes with the second nap of the day.  I anticipate we are slowly transitioning to one nap a day.

Eating - Daniel finally eats pieces of food!  It was a slow process, but we're finally there.  No more baby food!  Currently his favorite foods are raisins, yogurt and yogurt bites, turkey, pickles, banana, and peaches. We also gave him a spinach/potato pancake yesterday, and that went over very well.

Currently Daniel will take steps by himself, but he is not full on walking alone yet.  I can see those days fast approaching though.

He has also picked up on a lot of words including nose, hungry, raisins, bath, clap, bounce, monkey, num num, remote, hug, kiss, doggy.  He will respond to questions like "Do you want to... go outside?"  He will bounce in place meaning yes.  (He loves going outside, especially with the dogs.)

Daniel continues to establish his independence.  He knows what he wants, when he wants it and is not afraid to tell you!  (The same applies for what he doesn't want.)  He is entering a whining stage, but we know that this is just the way he communicates with us since he can't verbally tell us what he wants or needs.  It's a tough stage, but he's so cute, it's easy to dismiss!  Speaking of cute...
