12-Month Update

Daniel went to the pediatrician yesterday for his 12-month well baby visit.  He came in weighing 21 lbs., 11 oz. (32nd percentile), measuring 29.5" (40th percentile), and with a head circumference of 47 cm (69th percentile).  So it looks like he did go through quite a growth spurt considering he was in the 15th percentile for weight and 33rd percentile for height at his 9-month well baby visit. He received four vaccines, a healthy report, and a request for the next check up at 18 months.

Sleeping- He still sleeps like a champ!  Morning nap, afternoon nap, and 11 hours at night.  While I admit I enjoy having a break twice in the day during his naps, I do look forward to the day when he only takes one nap so we can go more places and do more things together.

Eating- We recently switched Daniel from formula in a bottle to whole milk in a sippy cup.  He transitioned very well.  He still struggles with pieces of food, and would rather be fed pureed baby food.  The last two days, he has at least put the food in his mouth instead of just immediately throwing the food to the floor, so we consider this a small victory.

Social skills- He loves to play the game "I'm gonna get you" where he crawls as fast as he can away from you and then one of us "chases" him saying "I'm gonna get you!"  Big laughs and then lots of tickles.  He really does well around unfamiliar people, generally quiet and observant, rarely crying or asking to go back to someone familiar.

Our current favorite thing he does is when he wants something, like being picked up, you ask him if he wants up, and he bounces in place to say yes!  It's the same reaction for if he wants food, milk, the monkey, etc.

Daniel's current favorite things:
Blanket/monkey
Yogurt
Pickles
Reading/books
Trixie/Aspen
Playing "I'm gonna get you!" with Mommy or Daddy

We are amazed at how quickly a year goes by once you have a child.  I guess time flies when you're having fun!  And that's our Daniel... he is so much fun!  He's such a little boy now and we love him so much!
I'm 1 year old!

Reach!

Hugs for Trixie
